Object Poems
Since early 2003 I have been playing with the idea of making poems built of objects rather than words. Here are some of the results of that exploration.
I had spent several years illuminating the poetry of Gertrude Stein. She used words as objects in her often abstract poetry. (You can read more about that by clicking on her name.) Anyway, I was heading to Missoula in the car in the spring of 2003 and it occurred to me that the next, obvious thing for me to explore is the notion of objects as words. So, I have been playing with the idea of making poems built of objects rather than words. Here are some of the first results of that exploration.
